MASTERS IN EDUCATION

COSC 802: COMPUTER USE IN EDUCATION

COURSE PURPOSE: To equip students with skills that enable them to use a computer in educational environments.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of the course, students should be able to;

•           Use a computer for presentation and proposal/report writing

•           Use a database to store and monitor students

•           Use a computer to perform education statistical analysis

COURSE CONTENT:

Introduction to general purpose computer application software. Presentations and proposal/report writing. Database systems; approaches to designing database systems in education; network and hierarchical approaches. Database systems design, administration and application in education. Monitoring student behaviour. Computer based learning, use of elearning tools. Education statistical analysis techniques. Use of computer packages to analyze educational data.
